Obituary for Lyle Evans

Lyle Evans, 72, of Webster City died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the funeral home.
Lyle Phillip Evans, son of Robert and Ellen (Severson) Evans, was born August 2, 1950 in Des Moines. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1968 and attended Iowa State University receiving a degree in Agriculture Education in 1972. On June 19, 1971, Lyle was united in marriage to Denise J. Mordick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was an Ag teacher and FFA advisor in Cresco before returning to Webster City where he was an Animal Health Salesman for Fort Dodge Labs, retiring in 2009.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Denise of Webster City; sons, Matt (Sarah) Evans of Des Moines, Jason (Tamara) Evans of Grimes, Dan (Michele) Evans of Davenport; daughter, Megan Evans of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Taylor, Alexis, Jordan, Addison, Morgan and Lucas; sister-in-law, Mary Beth (William) Soesbe of Clarion and several extended family members.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ellen Evans; infant son, David Michael Evans; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Junior and Betty Mordick and sister-in-law, Jill Mordick.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and selling produce at farmers markets, being involved with the local Democratic party and communicating with Ham Radio.
