Obituary for LaVonne Greufe

LaVonne (Bonnie) Greufe, 83 of Webster City, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams, with Rev. Stephen Meyer, celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, west of Williams. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a rosary at 6:45 p.m. followed by a scripture service. LaVonne Marie Rollins, daughter of Donald and Dorothy Kelly Rollins, was born February 9, 1931 at Duncombe. She graduated from Lincoln High in 1949. On April 28, 1956, she married William Dean Greufe at Webster City. The couple farmed north of Blairsburg. William retired in 1989 because of failing health and they continued to reside on their farm. Mr. Greufe died April 1, 1996. LaVonne was a busy mother, grandmother and homemaker. She worked at Wayne and Mary's in Williams after the kids were grown. Mrs. Greufe is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Sheryl Greufe and Randy and Sandra Greufe, all of Blairsburg; Mark and Holly Greufe of Ames; daughters and sons-in-law, Mindy and Dale Ellsworth of New Hampton, Craig Hughes of Webster City, Jane and Craig Peters of Eldon, MO; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; half brothers Donald (Carol) Rollins of Webster City; Terry Rollins of Webster City; half-sister, Vona Scott of Webster City. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Denise Hughes; two grandchildren, Kirsten and Kaleb Greufe; sisters, Beverly Sylvester, Barbara Nemechek; and a half-brother, Bruce Rollins. Bonnie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City.
