Obituary for Jerry L White

Jerry White, 83, of Webster City, died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Van Diest Medical Center following a brief illness. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gina Sterk, officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Jerry Lee White, son of William “Jim” and Evelyn Riley White, was born February 21, 1936 in Webster City. He graduated from Lincoln High in 1954. On September 26, 1954 Jerry was united in marriage to Thelma Ilene Ness at the English Lutheran Church in Webster City, Iowa Jerry worked for Franklin Manufacturing for 10 years and the Webster City Community School District for 31 years as the Director of Buildings and Grounds, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma; daughters, Kimberly Ann (Anton Alan) Drenth of Huntington Beach, CA and Victoria Ilene (David Ray) Tometich of Muscatine; grandson, Jackson Nash Drenth; foster-sister, Patsy Chibuck of California and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lily Woodmansee and brother, Chet White.
Jerry enjoyed serving his community and loved interacting with everyone in it in any way he could. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served in the Iowa National Guard for 16 years. He devoted his time to the people of Webster City as a Reserve Police Officer for 11 years. He was also a past president of Diamond K and Noon Kiwanis.
Jerry was a forever fisherman and enjoyed his annual fishing trips to the Lake of the Woods, Canada. He would bring home lots of stories and always enough fish to fill the freezer for the year. He was also a WWII history buff and enjoyed his regular Hy-Vee coffee group meetings. More notably, he always supported his two daughters as his first priority and did everything to make their way in life a success.
