Obituary for Jean Nieman

Jean Nieman, 93, of Webster City, formerly of Spencer, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Fada Jean Allen, daughter of Rufus and Naomi Smith Allen, was born October 20, 1927 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She attended Thomas Country School and graduated from Oklahoma City Wheeler School. On May 22, 1945, Jean was united in marriage to Clayton Nieman at Pueblo Air Force Base in Pueblo, CO. To this union six children were born. She was an entrepreneurial businesswoman who started a drapery business that grew into a large fabric store that served Spencer and northwest Iowa.
She is survived by her children, Jane (James) Geving of Madison, WI, James (Sheryl) Nieman of Parker, SD, John Mark (Barb) Nieman of LeMars, IA, Joseph (Sharon) Nieman of LeMars, IA, Jennifer (Greg) Maharry of Webster City, IA, Joni (Brent) Culver of Cedar Rapids, IA, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clayton, brother Aubrey Allen of Bakersfield, CA, sister Anita Lehmann of Anaheim, CA, and three grandchildren.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Jean enjoyed card games, shuffleboard, wintering in Arizona and belonged to the Red Hat Society.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Windsor Manor and Van Diest Medical Center along with Dr. Nikki Ehn for the compassion and care that was given to Jean. A memoral service will be held at a later date.
