Janet Elaine Yates, the daughter of Eldridge and Eunice (Passwaters) Yates, was born October 6, 1942 in Williams. She graduated from Webster City High school and attended two years of college. She worked for Mason City Schools and St. Thomas Catholic School as a teacher’s aide.
She is survived by her brother, Andy Yates of Webster City; sisters-in-law, Verona Yates and Sandy Yates both of Webster City; nieces and nephews, Sam Fitchhorn, Larry (Paula) Fitchhorn, Shelley (Charles) Clausen, Lynn (Jen) Yates, Leann (Phil Gillespie) Yates, Rhonda (Dennis) Crane, Mitch (Kelly) Yates, Jim Yates, Mark Yates, Tim (Lisa) Yates, Brenda (Matt) Spellmeyer, Nancy (Mike) Keane, Sean (Missy) Yates, Jason (Marlina) Yates and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. The dry sense of humor that Janet “The Cute One” Yates had along with her unique hat collection were almost legendary. She enjoyed weekly singing at the nursing homes with her sisters and enjoyed playing her guitar. As a true member of the Yates Family, Janet loved cheering for local teams as well as Iowa and Iowa State. “The Cute One” will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
