Obituary for James E Burnett

James Burnett, 73, of Webster City died Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Montezuma at his son’s home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation is entrusted with the services.
James Edward Burnett, son of James and Ann (Cunningham) Burnett, was born September 29, 1949 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City high school in 1967. He served in the United States Army from Sept. 1967 to Sept. 1970. On February 6, 1971, Jim was united in marriage to Pamela Anne Moberly in Webster City. He worked for Black Hills Energy for 37 years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pam of Webster City; children, Robert (Denise) Burnett and children Jake, Dominic, John, Joseph and Catherine of Lockport, IL; Ryan (Bonnie) Burnett of Mason City; Dustin (Carri) Burnett and children Hayley, Olivia and Grace of Montezuma, Elizabeth (Curtis) Sturgill and children Reece, Elise and Evie of Onawa; mother, Ann Burnett-Andersen of Madison, WI; brothers, Steve (Linda) Burnett of Lexington, SC and David (Joni) Burnett of Madison, WI.
Jim was preceded in death by father, James E. Burnett; infant son, Brandon Burnett; twin brother Jon Burnett, maternal and paternal grandparents.
He was a member of American Legion Post 191 and Knights of Columbus.
Jim's hobbies included cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers, fishing in Minnesota with his friends, ice fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
