Obituary for Gladys M Jorgensen
Gladys Jorgensen, 93, of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Webster City died Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Waterford of Miracle Hills in Omaha. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with serving the family.
Gladys Mae Hansen, daughter of Hans and Mildred (Steele) Hansen, was born October 7, 1929 in Willow Lake, South Dakota. She graduated from Vienna High School in Vienna, South Dakota. She took a summer teaching course to obtain her teaching certificate. On February 14, 1951, Gladys was united in marriage to Virgil Millard Jorgensen at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Gladys worked in a one-room schoolhouse before becoming a mother and homemaker. Later she was holiday help at the post office.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Andrew) Wiles of Las Cruses, NM, Vickie Hardin of Omaha, NE, Don (Karen) Jorgensen of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Grant Wiles, Justin Wiles, Chad Britson, Todd Britson, Anthony Jorgensen, David Jorgensen, Derek Jorgensen, Jill Jorgensen; 19 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil in 2008; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Rita Jorgensen in 2013; granddaughter, Tina Jorgensen Loyd in 2018; her parents, Hans and Mildred; three brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; she enjoyed having coffee with her friends, and especially like the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
