Gerald “Stu” Steuerwald, 73 of Duncombe died Monday, February 10, 2020 at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14 ,2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gina Sterk, officiating. Burial will be at Washington Lutheran Cemetery south of Duncombe. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Thursday, February 13, 2020.
Gerald Dee Steuerwald, son of Melvin and Genevieve Iles Steuerwald was born on April 25, 1946 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1964. On October 9, 1966 Gary was united in marriage to Judy Elm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. He served
in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, serving overseas in Germany. Gary worked for Modern Farms, Iowa Liquor Store, and Siligan, before retiring in 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy; children, Jason (Candy) Steuerwald and Heather (Paul) Larson both of Webster City; grandchildren, Colby (Madeline Ogg) Larson and Erin (Nate Hughes) Larson, Sierra Steuerwald; great-granddaughter, Adley; brother-in-law, Lynn (Elaine) Elm of Williams; sister-in-law, Ginny Elm of Minneapolis, MN.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Alex Steuerwald; and brother-in-law, Larry Elm.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hamilton County Saddle Club, Izaak Walton, and past commander of the American Legion Post 491 of Duncombe. Gary loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, but most importantly spending time with grandchildren and friends. He was known for always having a story to tell and will be missed by many.
