Obituary for Gene Hassebrock

Gene Hassebrock, 84, of Webster City died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Van Diest Medical Center. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Private family funeral services will be held with burial at Cass Center Cemetery.
Gene Raymond Hassebrock, oldest son of Harry and Katie (Tempel) Hassebrock, was born February 1, 1936 at his grandparent’s home south of Kamrar during a snowstorm. He graduated from Kamrar High School in 1954. He served in the Army National Guard following graduation. Gene was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Fisher on July 14, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar. He had worked for Beam Industries and the Jewell Co-op before moving to Webster City. Gene was the director of logistics for Van Diest Supply Co. for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny; son, Mike (Dawn) Hassebrock of Madrid; grandchildren, Ashlyn Hassebrock, Morgan (Molly) Slining, Kayli Hassebrock, Kassi Starner; great-grandson, Troy Slining; brother, Orlen (Florence) Hassebrock of Jewell; sisters, Barbara (Denton) Emmons of Kamrar, Donna (Loren) Luppes of Estero, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Debra Hassebrock.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar where he served as a deacon. Gene received the Carnegie Hero Award after an act of heroism.
