Elzy Johnson, 91, of Woolstock died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Van Diest Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Woolstock Community Hall in Woolstock. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Elzy Ellsworth Johnson, son of Walter and Jannette (Goldcamp) Johnson, was born May 11, 1930 on the family farm near Stratford. He graduated from Dayton high school. Elzy was united in marriage to Audrey Marian Knox on December 7, 1951 at the Duncombe Methodist Church. He served in the Iowa National Guard for several years. Over the years, he had worked for Naden Industries, Franklins, and the Woolstock Elevator and was a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed watching the Minneosta Vikings, the Iowa Hawkeyes, camping at the Iowa State fair for 25 years and attending Bluegrass festivals.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Woolstock; children, Dennis Johnson of Woolstock, Karen McKelvy of Seymour, Dean (Jacque) Johnson of Blanchard, OK, Rick Johnson of Kamrar; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Johnson of Kalona, sister, Joyce (Gary) Anderson of Fort Dodge and several nieces and nephews.
Elzy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ray Johnson and sisters, Ida Johnson and Della Bothel.
