Eleanor Mae Hoversten was born on August 11, 1937 to Gaylord and Dorothy (Tempel) Hoversten. She attended rural Radcliffe school. She had several occupations through her life - waitress and cook for several restaurants, Alden School, cashier at A&M Market, turkey plant, mink plant and was also Hardin county health care aide. She made several long-lasting friendships during her employments. The longest and most significant is when she worked at Schager’s in Alden and met and fell in love with Russell Anders. They were married on August 19, 1956 and from this union four children were born; Peggy, Jeannette, Douglas, and Holly. Family was her life and everything else came second as to what was important to her.
She enjoyed all family activities both with her siblings and children. Getting together for Birthdays and Holidays. Having chocolate cake and homemade ice cream, at her parent’s house. She enjoyed camping at Gehrke’s lake and Clear Lake, shopping, garage sales, collecting angels, and anything blue. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and the St. Paul’s women’s fellowship, Deb harts, card club, The Magnificent Seven, helping with church and community projects.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Peggy (Rusty) Hockman of Jewell, Jeannette (John) Gehrke of Audubon, Douglas Anders of Coulter, Holly (Dave) Van Ellen of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Ashley (Joel) Whitson, Jeremy Hockman, Brandon (Mindy) Gehrke, Bethany (Fiancé Stephen) Gehrke, Lawrence Gutting, Megan (friend Shawn) Gutting; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Nola Gehrke; siblings, Gerald (Patty) Hoversten, Connie (John) Keane, Rodney (Marcia) Hoversten and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell on January 31, 2015; parents Gaylord and Dorothy Hoversten; son-in-law, Larry Gutting; and nephew, Marty Hoversten.
Her family was her life and caring for them was her mission. She was a devoted friend, Christian and will be greatly missed.
