Obituary for Edward "Sonny" Haman

Edward “Sonny” Haman, 76, of Stratford died Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Van Diest Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will be at the Lawn Hill Cemetery, south of Stanhope. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edward William Haman, son of William and Minnie (Weers) Haman, was born April 13, 1945, in Webster City. He attended Stratford schools. On August 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Bethene Kay Enderson. To this union Lance, Lon and Jill were born. The couple later divorced. Sonny was united in marriage to Cheryl Ann Johnson Maples on February 2, 1991, in Las Vegas, NV. He worked for over 40 years for the City of Stanhope and served as the fire chief, head of EMS and the reserve county deputy. Sonny also farmed for many years in the Stanhope and Paton area and helped his brother, Jim, and nephew, Chase, with Haman Auctions.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cheryl; son, Lance (Kelly) Haman of Stratford; daughter, Jill Haman of Stanhope; grandchildren, Levi Haman, Madison (Jake) Daniels, Avery (Stephanie) Haman, Lucy Haman, Aiden Haman; great-granddaughter, Emelia Daniels; step-children, Lee (Paige) Maples and Rob (Jen) Maples both of West Palm Beach, FL, Joe (Stacey) Maples of Camdenton, MO; step-grandchildren, Alyssa McGee, Tommy Maples, Miranda Bishop, Arianna Maples, Blake Maples, Lexi Shaw, Cassey Aguilar, Dustin Enus, Braden Eger, Asher Eger; step-great-grandchildren, Layla McGee, Conner and Alexandria Galdos; brother, Gene Haman of Jefferson; sister, Diane (Kerry) Hanlon of Paton; sister-in-law, Margo Haman of Stratford, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lon Haman; sister, Helen Burrell; brother, Jim Haman and niece, Annette Haman.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanhope. He spent many mornings with the Stratford Coffee group catching up on the local “news.” Sonny was an avid outdoors man that enjoyed hunting, fishing, caring for his mules and riding his Harley Davidson.
