Donna Ahrens, 81, of Stratford, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at Boone County Hospital. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private family service will be held at a later time. Donna Glee Carlson, daughter of Ferman and Vera Vaubel Carlson, was born March 1, 1933 in Webster City. She graduated from Stanhope Consolidated School. On May 24, 1952 she married Dale J. Ahrens in Stanhope. The couple resided in Vermont while Dale was in the service, later returning to Stratford. Donna had worked for JC Penneys, Electrolux, and the grocery store in Stratford. She volunteered at the Stratford library, she was Bingo helper at the Stratford Care Center, and a member of the American Legion Auxillary. Donna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dale; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Linda Ahrens of Madrid, Brook and Julie Ahrens of Stratford; grandsons, Tjaden and Tyler Ahrens of Madrid, and Dillan Ahrens of Stratford.
