Dennis Wing, 90, of Stanhope died Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Lawn Hill Cemetery, south of Stanhope. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the service.
Dennis Lind Wing, son of Clifford and Erma (Lind) Wing, was born July 7, 1930, in Stanhope. He graduated from Stanhope High School in 1947. Dennis served in the United States Navy from 1949 – 1950. On August 13, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Madonna Plotner in Gowrie. Dennis worked with his brother, Lyle, as a barber in Story City. He later drove truck for 3M and Van Diest Supply, retiring in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rosemary; children, Tom (Sue) Wing of Grant, AL, Julie (Edward) Dumoulin of Marshalltown, Bill (Beth) Wing of Stanhope; grandchildren, Lindsay, Jessica, and Emily; six great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Duane) Engelby of Stanhope; brother, Lyle (Janet) Wing of Jewell and many extended family and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Carter Schwartz.
He had a love for the outdoors which included fishing, hunting, canoeing and archery.
