Obituary for Dale Orton, Jr.

Dale Orton, Jr., age 77 of Cicero, IL, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with burial at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for Dale and his family.
Dale Eugene Orton, Jr., son of Dale Sr. and Dorothy (Rekers) Orton, was born on July 27, 1944, in Cedar Falls, IA. Dale attended Radcliffe schools through his junior year and graduated from Webster City High School in 1962. He attended college in Sioux Falls, SD, and later served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1973. During his service Dale was stationed in Japan and the Philippines. Dale was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Webster City. He was united in marriage to Janice Gordon and to this union two daughters were born, Becky and Brenda. The couple later divorced.
Dale worked many years for Budget Rent a Car at Chicago Midway Airport and as a Security Officer at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He often took the train into Chicago to attend art festivals and he enjoyed walking many miles along Lake Shore Drive.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Becky (Troy) Cretsinger of Des Moines, and Brenda (Lee) Belt of Catoosa, OK; nine grandchildren: Tim Cretsinger, Cody Cretsinger, Samantha Cretsinger, Amber Cretsinger, Zac Cretsinger all of Des Moines, Iowa, Taylor (Schafer) Couch of Claremore, OK, Jordan Pennington of Tulsa, OK, Sterling Belt and Madison Belt of Catoosa, OK; one great-grandchild Heston Couch of Claremore, OK; siblings: Darlene (Larry) Hatcher of Cedar Falls, David (Diane) Orton of Webster City, Diane Knudsen of Webster City, and Donna (David) Scott of Granger; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and close friends.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Riley; and brother-in-law, Mike Knudsen.
