Obituary for Burnith Chalfant

Burnith Logan Chalfant, son of Kenmore Jr and Beverly (Short) Chalfant, passed into eternal life on Monday, December 6, 2021, at his sister’s home in Missouri Valley, Iowa, surrounded by family. He was 60 years old. Visitation with family and friends will be at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City at 12:00 pm, Sunday, December 12, 2021, with the funeral at 1:00 pm. A luncheon will follow immediately after. Burial will be 10:00am, Monday, December 13, 2021, at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. All are welcome to all events.

Burnith, known as Burnie by many friends and family, was born in Story City, Iowa, on December 31, 1960. He graduated from Webster City High School and completed draftsman training at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He worked various jobs including Salt River Project Power and Water in Phoenix, Arizona, where he mapped out new and changed utility services.

He enjoyed playing percussion in high school concert, jazz, and marching bands, acting in high school plays, racing go-carts, playing basketball, sprint car racing, and camping in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona. Along with his brother-in-law Larry and his brother Doug, they entered demolition derby cars at the Arizona State Fair.

He is survived by his older sister Renee (Michael) Carney, younger brother Lloyd (Cindy) Chalfant; sisters-in-law Doris Chalfant (wife of his brother Sam) and Sue Chalfant (wife of his brother Doug); first wife Carol; son Kenmore (known as Luke) Chalfant, step-daughters Jessica Baxter and Jamie Hopper; step-grandchildren Jayden Prout, Carol Henderson, Taylor Annett-Hopper, and Phineas, James, Elanor, Susanna, Eileen, and Frances Baxter; and nephews and nieces Michelle Adams, Jason Chalfant, Amy Perez, Marie Lofton, Sarah Carney, Joseph Carney, David Carney, Hannah Chalfant, Samantha Hales, Jacob Chalfant, and Noah Chalfant.

Burnith is preceded in death by his parents, Kenmore Jr and Beverly Chalfant; his older brothers, Kenmore III (Sam) and Doug; and his second wife, Kim.
