Obituary for Alice Hayes

Alice Hayes, 86 of Webster City, died Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Windsor Manor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation is entrusted with caring for Alice and her family.
Alice Rose Essig was born on January 5, 1936, daughter of John B. and Susan (Seiser) Essig, in Webster City. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1954.
On November 4, 1956, Alice was united in marriage to Gary Hayes at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She worked at the Hamilton County Department of Social Welfare, Hahne Printing Company, Blacks Unlimited, H&R Block, Electrolux, and part-time at Lena’s as well as Hamilton County Abstracting Services. Alice and her husband also owned and operated Hayes Trophies for several years. On January 5, 2009, at the age of 73, Alice retired from Electrolux.
Alice was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, crossword puzzles, coloring, drawing, and entering contests. Most of all, she loved going to her grandsons’ ball games, concerts, and school activities. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by son, Brad (Pam) Hayes of Webster City; grandsons, Ben (Jenna) Hayes of Chaska, MN, and Jake Hayes of Des Moines, IA; many other extended family members and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Hayes; son, Scott Hayes; daughters, Cheri Hayes and Shelly Hayes; brothers, Richard Essig and Edward Essig; sisters, Dorothy Kennedy and Elizabeth Pruismann.
