Alice L. Gibson Stetz, the daughter of Gerald O. and Ida Mae (Clagett) Gibson was born March 7, 1928 in Elkhart, IN. She was the youngest of three children. Alice attended school in Milford, IN, where she graduated in 1946. She moved to Ames, IA and worked for a short time at various jobs. She later moved to Eagle Grove, IA, where her parents owned and operated a Maid Rite business. Alice then moved to Chicago, IL to attend Cook County School of Nursing. After graduation she worked as a staff nurse and then head nurse for 38 years. She met and married Chester Stetz, but lost him to cancer. After retiring from nursing, she returned to Eagle Grove, IA and assisted in various ministry activities. Missions was where her heart was. Due to failing health, she moved to Rotary Ann South and then the North side.
Alice passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Leta and brother, Kyle.
Survivors include niece, Vickie Bagatti; nephew, Dennis Gibson and many caring friends.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove, IA. She will be laid to rest at Troy Cemetery, south of Eagle Grove in her family plot.
