Obituary for Al D Shehorn

Al Shehorn, 91 of Webster City, died Monday, October 24, 2022 at Van Diest Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery.
Alan Dale Shehorn, son of Russell and Lillian (Lough) Shehorn, was born August 26, 1931 on the family farm near Eagle Grove. He graduated from Woolstock High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 in the Korean War. On January 8, 1955 Al was united in marriage to Marcy Proctor in Woolstock. The couple resided in Webster City. He held various jobs including Dunn’s Supervalu, Chief of Police for Webster City Police Department, Hamilton County Landfill, and a truck driver for Van Diest Supply. Al was a member of the American Legion Post #191, Iowa State Police Association and a former Moose member.
He is survived by his son, Shelby (Virginia) Shehorn of Webster City; grandchildren, Nathan (Katie) Shehorn, Emily (Dan) Jensen, Elizabeth (Brent) Smoyer, Brenden (Tom) Berleen, John Berleen, Whitney Gray, Benjamin Mingus; several great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Rasmussen of Webster City and many extended family members.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcy; daughter, Sheryl Shehorn; daughter-in-law, Denise Shehorn; brother, James R. Shehorn; and brother-in-law, Richard Rasmussen.
