Each Funeral Service, Memorial Service or Celebration of Life is a unique experience for a family that has lost a family member or a close friend. The Foster Funeral Home & Cremation Center staff assists the families they are serving to create a personalized, meaningful funeral, memorial service or a celebration of life.
The following is a list of the services that are most often selected by families in our community following the loss of a family member or friend.
Traditional Funeral Service
This service usually consists of a viewing (visitation/wake) at the funeral home, or at another location, for family members and friends and associates. The following day funeral services are held at the funeral home, church, or another location. Internment (Burial) usually takes place following the service.
Traditional Funeral Service with Cremation
This service is basically the same as above except instead of Interment (Burial) the remains are taken to a Crematory for cremation. The Cremains (ashes) are then returned to the family at a later date.
Memorial Service (Without the body present)
Upon death, after all legal requirements have been met, the remains are either immediately buried or cremated. A Memorial Service, without the body being present, is then held at a later date at either the funeral home, a church or another location of the families choice.
Most often, when the remains have been cremated, the Memorial Service is held after the Cremains (ashes) have been returned and placed in a Cremation Urn. The Cremation Urn with the cremains is then present at the Memorial Service.
Immediate Cremation/Immediate Burial
Upon removal from the place of death, after all of the legal requirements have been met, the remains are either taken to a cemetery for burial or to a crematory for cremation. Following the cremation the cremains (ashes) are returned to the family. No type of services are held.
