Dear Gary, Sherryl & families,
It is with regret that I will not be able to attend the funeral for Aunt Lorine. You & yours will be in my thoughts & prayers throughout the visitation, funeral and days following. Certainly 93 years is a good, long life --- but loss is still real as we commend her to the care & keeping of our Lord.
It becomes the immediate occasion to remember the small things of family gatherings --- cards around the table, meals shared, time at your farm, hospitality to a 'homeless' nephew after my parents moved to Arizona and I was at seminary in Dubuque. Memories still live! May your memories bless you as you hold her in your heart.
May the Advent season in which we embark, be a present reminder that God is making all things new. May the anticipation of Christmas be the constant reminder that He shares our humanity. May the eternal promise of new life for His own be the comfort in these days.
Blessed the memory of dear Aunt Lorine.
