Madge I. Peters, 93, of Webster City, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, after a hip fracture. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Madge Irene Elswick, daughter of Wilbur and Goulda Cloyd Elswick, was born January 23, 1919 in Monroe County. She attended Centerville High School where she graduated as class valedictorian. She moved to Des Moines and on June 2, 1942, she married John A. Peters. John worked as state director of unemployment insurance and Madge worked at Continental Western Insurance Company for many years. After their retirement, the couple moved to Webster City in 1980. Mr. Peters died in September of 2004.
Mrs. Peters is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roger Main of Webster City; grandchildren, Gary and Carry Main of Sidney, Nebraska; Julie and Scott Petty of Spirit Lake; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Main of Sidney; Caden and Clara Petty of Spirit Lake
In addition to her husband, Madge was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Elswick.
Madge enjoyed bowling, golf and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended the New Covenant Christian Church in Fort Dodge and The Dwelling Place in Clarion .
